– Microsoft outlook 2013 password prompt keeps popping up free

I set up my home computer and it’s working fine. However, at work, Outlook continually prompts me for the password. The only variable is the internal autodiscover which is still pointed to our current service. Outlook still shows “Connected to Exchange” so I think Outlook is just wigging out because of the internal autodiscover.
This seems to be more of an annoyance than anything, but I just wonder if there’s a way to get out of it without changing or deleting the internal autodiscover which may cause local clients to wig out and I don’t want to deal with the panicked help desk calls. Sounds like it probably is related to the autodiscover records. Try adding entries to your host file on the test machine to point to the Office services instead of the internal.
This way you won’t have to change the DNS everyone else uses until you are ready to make the switch. My understanding is there is an issue with Office I enter the password the first time and then after that hit cancel when it pops up.
Goddammit, NACS! Why didn’t I think of this. I was about to add autodiscover to my host file but somehow didn’t think that would work because you can’t add an MX record to the hosts file. Has anyone found a viable solution to the problem? This thread is locked.

Microsoft outlook 2013 password prompt keeps popping up free.Outlook 2013 On Office 365 Keeps Prompting for Password
I have one user in where upon opening Outlook it keeps prompting for the password over and over. Sometimes clicking cancel it goes away and outlook opens and shows “connected” and other times it will say “needs password”. I’ve been through a few posts on here that said to check and remove certain hotfixes if they were installed one was KB forgot the other but they weren’t on there.
When I try to create a new profile it keeps prompting for the password over and over. Any suggestions? Please open Outlook in Safe Mode and check how it works.
If application safe mode works, try disabling the add-ins associated with Outlook and check. Here are the steps: 1. Open Outlook. Click on File and then click on options. In the Options Window click on Add-ins. Now uncheck the all the add-ins and click OK. How many email accounts are configured in Outlook? Are you able to sign in to Outlook Web App with the same credential? Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Yea the issue occurs in safe mode as well. Would you please copy and paste the whole two test results in the PM? Hi Pstoric, Now, I can see your test results. Here are the detailed steps: a. Locate the set of credentials that has Outlook in the name. Click the name to expand the set of credentials, and then click Remove from Vault. Repeat step c for any additional sets of credentials that have the word Outlook in the name. Does the issue persist in another PC?
Is there any improvement if you try a different network environment out of your organization? How many users have the same issue in your organization? Any update is appreciated. Regards, Alan. Prior to submitting this I’ve cleared all the credentials in the credential manager but that did not seem to help. Creating a new Outlook profile on a different PC seemed to work ok.

It’s strange. I just did a complete removal of Office , cleared the credentials again in the credential manager and re-installed Office from her Office portal but it’s still prompting for the credentials when opening Outlook.
If I click cancel it disappears and Outlook connects to Exchange without and problems but it shouldn’t be prompting. I can see the entry in the credential manager as well.
